Our Mission
Leading businesses since 1893
In 1893 a group of like-minded businessmen joined together and filed articles of incorporation as the Citizens Improvement Association of Pekin. The group formed "for the purpose of advancing the business interest and promoting the commercial growth of the City of Pekin."
Despite several name changes and over 125 years of history, the mission of the Chamber has not changed all that drastically. The wording might be a little different, and maybe the scope has expanded, but the basic purpose is still the same.
The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce is a progressive organization that recognizes the fundamental equality of all individuals and thus strives to ensure equality of opportunity for all. The Chamber welcomes people of varied backgrounds and their contributions to our organization – an organization made stronger by the presence of diversity.
About 400 members (businesses, organizations, and individuals) and hundreds of volunteers work to make the Pekin area a better place to live, work and play. If you'd like to be a part of the success, we have several different membership packages to meet your specific needs. Strategic Plan
The Board of Directors of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce adopted a new strategic plan in May of 2018. The plan will guide the organization for the next several years.
